Re: Letter of Recommendation for Property renovation

Dear Charles Henderson Construction

I engaged CHC to undertake the complete renovation of a severely neglected flat - including new kitchen and bathroom, new windows, new central heating system, replastering and painting walls and ceilings and installing new flooring throughout.

Charles Henderson Construction quote included full project management of the renovation, which in my view was definitely worth paying for.

I have a full-time job so the fact Henderson and his team were able to co-ordinate the works with minimal involvement from me was invaluable. At the initial site visit for the quotation, Henderson offered useful advice and recommendations, and this continued throughout the process.

Communication throughout the renovation was quick and clear, and problems were raised promptly with reasonable solutions proposed. Any questions were answered properly, and photo updates were provided when requested.

Big thanks to Chantelle who put up with lots of silly questions from me with professionalism and most importantly in this industry - complete honesty! I was very nervous about finding the right firm to do this work, but I am so thankful I chose CHC. The finished standard was exactly what I hoped for and the aftercare has been excellent too.

I am very pleased to highly recommend Charles Henderson Construction who built an
extension to my property. My property when I bought it was a four-bedroom house which had
had a ground floor extension previously to make the tiny kitchen more usable. That initial
extension left a flat roof with all the problems that are often associated with it. I therefore
applied to the council to have the property extended after living there for some time to
eliminate the flat roof.
I received several quotes and Henderson Construction was very competitive even though it
was by no means the cheapest. I therefore decided to choose them even though I had no
foreknowledge of them from the professional point of view. I was not disappointed. The team
was very professional and gave my wife and I excellent service. They completed the work in
a timely manner and their efficiency as well as the looks of my property at the end of their
work left nothing to be desired. Indeed, the neighbours were keen to have their contact just in
case they needed to carry out similar work.
I am therefore happy to recommend them very highly and would not hesitate to use them
again should I have any further need for such services.

New open plan kitchen

Henderson came highly recommended to me, and I can highly recommend his company to you.

I live in a fairly small house, so space was an issue and precise planning was required. My old kitchen was tiny, dark and shut in. My living room was separated by doors – it was all just too enclosed and dark. I wanted the whole ground floor opened up and I relied on Henderson’s advice for a new open plan kitchen. His advice was spot on.

Henderson’s team totally stripped out my old kitchen and living room, knocking down a few walls and doors to make it open plan. After weeks of the team’s very hard work, the whole kitchen was fitted to perfection, as was the new wooden flooring. With a breakfast bar added, he cleverly was able to demarcate the kitchen/sitting room areas without losing the feeling of an open space and light. The whole ground floor space seems so much bigger and is definitely much brighter now.

The CHC team are professionals. They worked extremely hard for us and to a very high standard, and their attention to detail was excellent. They were always punctual and polite, and were fun to have around. Any unforeseen obstacles were swiftly figured out and sorted. Henderson visited our house throughout this project, was easily contactable, and was always on top of the project.

The finished work was perfect. I want to give a big thank you to the fantastic CHC team.

"We were extremely pleased with the level of work and finishing completed for my parents rear of house single storey extension Sept 2021- Mar 2022.


The works were for a 30m2 single storey rear of house ‘Granny flat,’ with a sloped roof/flat portion featuring Velux windows, with bathroom and underfloor heating throughout.

The whole project was very much the design and build concept, working with Henderson and the architect to customise to my parents very exacting requirements. The space itself has such a high roof (we went as high as allowed within the building restrictions) that it immediately transformed the space feeling light, airy and bright.


The work was unfortunately pushed back a few times due to a few reasons as much to do with us as them where there was another job that ran over and we had to agree to a Party Wall consultation with our neighbour which Henderson was able to helpfully advise me on. The other very unfortunate thing was that demand hit the roof during the pandemic, which resulted in a sizeable price increase to the total project price due to the rising in cost of materials.


The works themselves weren’t done without any problems but given this was the first time we had undertaken any building work this was almost to be expected, and having said that any issues were sorted immediately directly through Henderson- who was on site constantly throughout the project and a phone call away if not.


Henderson and his extensive team were all experts at their various stages of the project, communicated very well throughout and made sure the job was completed to a high spec. Henderson has many contacts in the business and knew that we intended on adding a kitchenette within the space so was able provide his contact through Howdens. Although we did not end up going down this route as my parents are still deciding, he was able to recommend a painter to provide the finishing touches- this we did take him up and we are glad we did as the professional paint job made such a difference to the final look and feel.


I don’t usually write reviews but where builders don’t generally have a good reputation, I found it necessary to try to right that misconception. I am super grateful we found Henderson and we were really lucky as I actually found him through his high reviews ratings on google. Having met him I was immediately reassured by his experience, knowledge and friendly but helpful nature. What transpired through working with him on this project was that he actually cares about the work he produces and his customers. Which I believe is not just a rare quality to have in the building world but in general life.


I was looking for experience paired with professionalism but also at a reasonable cost. Him and his team are not only the best in their fields but 100% trustworthy and upfront making valid and helpful recommendations along the way working with you and your budget.


I would not hesitate to recommend him and am already looking to have more work done in the form of an outbuilding and potentially loft conversion further down the line. He has given me the confidence to not only trust in builders and building work but ignited the building bug within me.


As you may know any builder worth their salt will be very busy, (especially in this climate) and Henderson is no exception. So get in there quick and snap him up.

I just wanted to send this letter to say a massive thank you to Henderson and his team in respect to the renovation of my kitchen which was completed end of March 2022.

Henderson is 100% customer focused and trustworthy and honest. All the way through the project he kept me updated, he was on site and ensured everything was done accordingly, they cleaned up and ensured the place was spotless. They are all hard working reliable and so efficient.

I would recommend Henderson to anybody that requires any renovation work. "Henderson and his team have done a great job in rebuilding our kitchen. He is an experienced and honest builder and was able to advise us well. His team worked very hard and their standard of work was excellent. A few tiny ‘snags’ were swiftly sorted and the overall result we couldn’t be happier with. We had chimney breast removed, back wall of the house rebuilt, and a door cut through another wall, floor dug out and rebuilt, new ceiling, lighting etc. Security was well maintained and mess was kept to a minimum. Henderson himself visited the site every day and was pleasant, polite and knowledgeable at all times. We had separate kitchen fitter/designers, and they worked well together. From the outset we were impressed by Henderson’s approach - business like, professional and trustworthy. This was a big project for us which is why we turned to Which Trusted Traders - and we are so pleased we chose CHC. Re: CHC renovated our house from top to bottom.

The job included underfloor heating throughout; a new staircase; data cabling; plastering; and colourful decorating. The job has been completed in a timely manner, and at an exceptional level of quality.
A good contractor lets you know when there is an unexpected problem on the job. An excellent contractor immediately informs you, and lays out the costed options, with their positive and negative aspects.

This is exactly what Henderson did when we discovered that the plaster in our property was flaking and not fit for purpose. The job's completion time was affected, but the new plastering was well done. I recommend CHC to anyone who wants their construction work done well, and right the first time.

extension to our house to accommodate our new kitchen, and modifications to our then
existing kitchen space to a bathroom and utility room. Charles Henderson Construction
delivered a first-class product.

From our first meeting with Henderson, he came across as being trustworthy and sincere in his commitment to producing a finished product that we would be very pleased with.

His communication skills were very noticeable in the way he offered constructive alternatives to our original plans which we found very helpful and accepted. Henderson is very committed to satisfying the expectations of his clients.

Henderson was on site very frequently demonstrating his site management skills in
coordinating the different trades at the site. He exhibited his knowledge of the different trades
when we asked questions. His workmen were very professional and vacated the site at the end of the day leaving it in a clean state.

Our family and friends were very impressed with our new extension and the way in which the
previous kitchen was converted into a comfortable bathroom and utility room. The finished
layout was all Hendeson’s alternative design suggestion which we were happy that we
accepted.
